Grand Canyon Skywalk At Grand Canyon West Opens An ADA Approved Ramp Making It 100 Percent Wheelchair Accessible
Glass Walkway Offers People With Disabilities A Unique View Of The Grand Canyon

GRAND CANYON WEST, AZ (March 5, 2008) As of March 2008 the Grand Canyon Skywalk at Grand Canyon West is fully accessible to people with disabilities. The completion of a new ADA approved access ramp allows people with disabilities the opportunity to go beyond the Grand Canyon’s edge and gaze 4000 feet down at the canyon’s floor.

“The Skywalk is an experience that allows anyone in the world to view the Canyon though the eyes of an eagle,” said Wilfred Whatoname, Guest Relations at GCW and member of the Hualapai Tribe. “We are very excited that the new ramp has given ‘wings’ to people that previously never had such a unique view of the Grand Canyon.”

The ramp was built along side the original Skywalk structure and the entrance sits less than 10 feet from the rim of the canyon at Eagle Point. The ramp was built in accordance with the Federal Government Department of Justice’s ADA guidelines for accommodating individuals with disabilities. Grand Canyon West is wheelchair friendly and provides special access for visitors requiring vehicles with wheelchair lifts.
